BACK LIGHT ASSEMBLY AND LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY APPARATUS HAVING THE SAME

A backlight assembly and an LCD including the same are provided to reduce heat from a lamp to an LCD panel by forming a lamp holder with many holes. A lamp unit(210) includes a lamp(212) generating light, a porous lamp holder(214) coupled to both ends of the lamp and including a plurality of holes, and a lamp cover(216) coupled to the porous lamp holder to surround three sides of the lamp. A light guide plate(220) is disposed at one opened side of the lamp cover, and guides light from the lamp unit. A receiving container(230) receives the lamp unit and the light guide plate. The porous lamp holder includes a porous portion including the plurality of holes, and a surface portion surrounding the porous portion. The holes have a size ranging from 10mum to 50mum respectively.
