A holder for a light emitting diode or bulb is designed to allow ease of mounting in an aperture in a panel. The bulb or diode is located within a glass cover and has a shoulder (10) that is held against a lip in the housing (3), by an elastic plug (5). The housing is held on a base plate (7) by two self tapping screws (16). The electrical supply to the bulb is by two leads (12) that pass through the central aperture. A number of profited projections (15) on the underside of the panel grip the plug, with the bulb projecting through the aperture (14). Alternative versions allow external mounting.
