The cassette protects and stores a set of drill bits inserted individually in parallel compartments in a rectangular body and with mouths in a common plane shut by a cover. The cassette is freed to allow extraction of a selected bit. Each compartment (12) has a cover plate (24) forming part of the cover and movable individually from a position shutting it to one freeing it. The plates are held shut in a frame (23) fitting over the mouth side of the body.
