An apparatus and a method for compensating a thickness of rubbing cloth are provided to measure a thickness of a file over the whole rubbing cloth, calculate an average value of the thickness to measure the thickness of the file exactly, and control a spaced distance between an alignment substrate and a rubbing roller automatically according to the measured file thickness, thereby improving alignment force of an alignment layer. A thickness measuring unit(110) measures a thickness of files prepared in rubbing cloth. A processing unit(120) calculates an average value of the measured thickness of the files, and compares the average value with a preset reference value of the thickness of the files. A control unit(130) controls a spaced distance between an alignment substrate and a rubbing roller attached with the rubbing cloth according to the comparison result of the processing unit. |
