PURPOSE:To raise the recordability and discharge stability of a recording liquid used in ink jet recording method, by adding a specific azo compound with at least one COONa group or SO3Na group in its molecule to said recording liquid. CONSTITUTION:To a recording liquid used in a recording method in which a recording liquid is discharged and jetted in droplets from the discharge orifice of a recording head and then used in recording, 0.1-15wt% compound with at least one -COONa group or -SO3Na group in its molecule, represented by the formula I (where A is an unsubstituted or substituted compound of the formula II and B1 and B2 each is an unsubstituted or substituted phenyl group), is added on the basis of the whole amount of said recording liquid. Specific example of the compounds of the formula I include the compounds of the formulas III and IV. |
