The invention relates to a sealing strip, composed of at least two different materials, which forms and seals a free space 1a between two plates or panes or the like 2, especially in an insulating glass window 1. The sealing strip consists substantially of a sealing material 3 and a bent supporting strip 4 accommodating a drying means and made, for example, of sheet metal, such as, for example, aluminium plate. The U-shaped limbs 7 facing towards the free space 1a in the insulating glass window 1 are, with their free ends, bent over in the direction of and overlap one another. The outer and the mutually overlapping limbs 10 of the hollow supporting strip 4 overgrip a side extended perpendicular to the plane of the glass pane and partially also a side 7 extended substantially parallel with the plane of the glass pane, whereby the free end edge 10a of the limb is enclosed or covered by sealing compound.
