PURPOSE:To restrict the movement of natrium ions produced from a glass layer and to provide a thermal head having a long life by a method wherein an electrical conductive shielding layer is arranged between the glass layer and the insulation layer of the thermal head to be used in a heat sensitive recording device. CONSTITUTION:A glass layer 12 is arranged on an insulation base plate 11. An electric conductive shielding layer 13 is arranged on the glass layer. The electric conductive shielding layer is a semi-conductor such as a chromium or an aluminum etc. or a conductive material, and its thickness is several 100Angstrom -several 1,000Angstrom . On the shielding layer 13 are formed an insulative anti-etchant layer 14, a heating resistor 15 and a wiring conductor 16 to be connected to the heating resistor, and further an insulative protecting film 17 is provided. This will restrict a variation of resistance in the heating resistor caused by the movement of the matrium ions, so that a thermal head having a long life may be provided. |
