PURPOSE:To make it possible to drive a GTO with a high frequency by a small- capacity capacitor, by using the discharging electric current of the capacitor as an on-gate current. CONSTITUTION:When transistor TR3 is turned on, an off-gate current is flowed to CTO1 through TR3 from gate power source 2, and simultaneously, TRs 16 and 17 are cut off. When turning-off of CTO1 is completed, the off-gate current is transferred to the path of diode 18, capacitor 19, and diode 20, and capacitor 19 is charged. Next, when TR3 is turned off, TR14 is cut off, and next, TRs 16 and 17 are turned on, and the discharging current is flowed to the path of TR16, GTO1, and TR17 by capacitor 19, and GTO1 is turned on. Thus, since capacitor 19 is used for supply of the on-gate current, a small-capacity capacitor can be used as capacitor 19, and consequently, the charging time constant becomes short, so that the GTO can be driven with a high frequency. |
