PURPOSE:To prevent damage to stabilizer, etc., by controlling pulse voltage generated from a starter by a means in which helium, etc., having a specific pressure range at ordinary temperature, is enclosed in an outer tube provided with a luminous tube and and start-up thermosensitive element. CONSTITUTION:The inside of the outer tube 8 for a high-pressure sodium lamp, etc., is housed with the luminous tube 1 with the electrodes 13 and 13' and the starter 7 with the thermosensitive switch 2 and the heating resistor 6, which are connected in parallel to the commercial power source 12 through the stabilizer 11. Also, the outer tube 8 is enclosed with a gas, e.g., helium, neon, etc., having a pressure of 1X10<-4> to 10 Torr (at ordinary temperature). Thus, a discharge is occurred by the gas enclosed in the outer tube 8 at the moment the thermosensitive switch 2 is opened and then a high-voltage pulse generated of more than a magnitude is absorbed by the discharge. Thus, the pulse voltage can be controlled and damage to lighting circuit and stabilizer can be prevented. |
