PURPOSE:To obtain a picture image having low min. density and sufficiently high max. density by executing surface development in the presence of a specified nucleation promoting agent. CONSTITUTION:Surface development is executed in the presence of at least one kind of compd. expressed by formula I and II. In formula I, Q is an atomic group necessary for forming a 5- or 6-membered heterocyclic ring; Y is a divalent joint group consisting of atoms or atomic group selected from H atom, C atom, etc.; R is an org. group contg. a thioether group, amino group, etc.; each n and m is 0, 1 or 2; M is a group cleaved by H atom or alkali metal atom. In formula II, Q' is an atomic group necessary for forming a 5- or 6-membered heterocyclic group capable of forming an imino silver; each Y, R, n, and M is defined similarly as in formula I; m is 1 or 2. Thus, a direct positive color picture image having low min. density and high max. density is formed rapidly and stably. |
