PURPOSE:To positively prevent twist of a stock and to improve the productivity and yield by specifying a tilting angle of vertical rolls at tilting the vertical rolls with a sheet stock horizontally carried and edged by the vertical rolls. CONSTITUTION:The axis of vertical rolls 18 installed to pinch a slab 7 substantially carried in the horizontal direction in both sides of the slab 7 is substantially positioned in the vertical direction so as to hold the rolls 18 rotatable by yokes 14. Then, for example, a wedge 24 is driven under the back of the yokes 14 to tilt the respective yokes 14 so that their top slants into the carrying path of the slab 7. If the slab 7 is supplied to the roll 18 titled in such a condition, the yokes 14 are pushed by a screw 16 with the rolls 18 rotated by a motor. Thus, the rolls 18 are pushed onto side faces in the slab width direction to edge the slab 7 by a prescribed amount. |
