Electrical cable for use at temps. above 600 deg.C, esp. for use as fire resistant safety cable, comprises at least one conducting core insulated by a fire resistant substance, which is to be placed inside a steel enclosure or in the immediate proximity of a mass of steel. Specifically each conductive core is of copper, the total oxygen content of which is below 60 pref. 1-60 ppm.
