PURPOSE:To make it possible to miniaturize the printing mechanism and confirm printed letters as they are by shifting up and down a metal rod forming a bearing point of beating an ink ribbon to gradually shift the bearing points. CONSTITUTION:When the shortest diameter porton of a cam 25 presses down a metal rod 22 to the lowermost position, a bearing point fitted in the vicinicy of the foremost end of a metal rod 22 comes to a lowermost position. When at this position, a pulse current is applied to a coil so that the field of a magnet 24 is erased, a finger 21 absorbed to the magnet is released, and actuated toward a platten by a reaction force. The cam 25 rotates at a predetermined angle is correspondence to the number of dots in vertical rows in the direction shown by arrow in the drawing and shifts the beating point to the position of a dot to be subsequently printed at the position where the metal rod 22 is lifted. Upon this occasion, when a current for erasing the field of the magnet 24 is applied, the printing is carried out similarly. In this manner, the cam 25 shifts the metal rod 22 and also shifts the bearing point. |
