Halogen lamp reflector and socket - has protective ceramic skirt fitting into reflector neck

The reflector and socket for small and medium halogen lamps have standard connection fittings. The socket has a protective ceramic skirt to accommodate the high local heating of such lamps and is applicable to all forms of projector and general illumination lamps. The reflector (3) has an orthodox bowl shape extended to form an inwardly ribbed sleeve into which is clipped the socket. The socket has a tapered ceramic bulb holder (1) threaded to match the lamp (2) electrode. This is bolted to a plastic section (5) over which is fitted an orthodox screw thread connector (4). The ceramic section can alternatively be fixed to the reflector using a high temperature or refractory cement. Internal leads are pref. soldered one being taken to the ceramic threaded section to contact the lamp electrode.
