The refrigerator and deep freezer combination has separate compartments with sections of an evaporator connected in series serving each, and supplied by an intermittently operating refrigerating compressor. At least the evaporator section serving the refrigeration compartment can be defrosted while the compressor is stopped. In the refrigeration compartment (12) is a heat-conductor pipe (16), in line or point contact with the respective evaporator section (15). This absorbs heat from the interior of the compartment, and conducts it to the refrigerating medum pipe section (14) between the two sections of the evaporator.
