A musical book comprises a wooden cabinet which, when closed has the appearance of a book of width 110-165 mm and height 250-330 mm. The front cover (1) of the pseudo-book hinges open to reveal a first pseudo-page (5) which also hinges open and serves as a music stand being supported by a detachable leg (6). The book edge has a keyboard (10) which controls a multifrequency oscillator coupled through a power amplifier to a loudspeaker whose grill is exposed on opening the first page. Adjacent the grill are a number of switches which control a vibration system and percussion to provide a number of different synthesised sounds.
