The child's vehicle has a tubular frame and a pedal driven chain drive for the rear axle hub. A gear selector operates on the hub gear change with the lowest ratio, having a free-wheel drive so that the vehicle can be reversed by pedalling backwards. The other gear ratios operate only forwards, with a free-wheel effect to allow coasting. The first forward ratio and the direct drive are situated each side of a neutral setting. The vehicle is lightweight and easily controlled.
