The resilient support is partic. intended for the engine and gear box unit (1) in a motor vehicle body (2). It comprises a number of relisient support elements (3). At least one resilient element consists of a double-acting vibration damper (4) whose damping action is varied as a function of the rate of movement of the engine throttle or fuel injection pump control, so as to increase the damping force as this rate increases. The damper acts on vibration about the longitudinal axis of the unit (1). The damper may be a variable hydraulic damper. The damping force may be varied by variation of a throttle opening (7).
