The driving mirror assembly has the mirror proper as a glass wedge (2) pivoted inside a housing (3) by its top edge. A tilting plate (4) on the rear provides the mirror dipping facility. The plate pivots about the mounting ball joint (5) and is operated by a lever (13) pivoted in the bottom of the housing. The lever is mounted on a horizontal axle (15), located between two vertical ribs moulded into the housing. The ribs also locate the sides of the tilting plate, while the top of the plate has tabs (7) located in cut-outs (9) moulded into the housing. The plate has front and rear cams (22, 23) to limit the tilt action. The plate is securely mounted and is not loosened on impact.
