An apparatus and a method for recording music data are provided to record entire broadcasted music data without losing any part of the data, since the music data is recorded as soon as it is broadcasted if it has the same song information with a bookmarked music data. An apparatus for recording music data comprises a tuner(100), a bookmark unit(160), a memory(180), a controller(200), and a recording/reproducing unit(170). The receiver receives a broadcasting signal including song information of music data. The bookmark unit marks a bookmark on the song information of music data to be recorded while the broadcasting signal is received. The memory stores the bookmarked song information. The controller compares the song information received through the receiver with the bookmarked song information stored in the memory and controls to record the music data. The recording/reproducing unit records the music data in the memory under the control of the controller, and reproduces the music data stored in the memory.
