Rail traffic operating system with trough rail - having horizontal running surface has sensor above vehicle with mechanical guide and warning system

The passenger rail traffic system uses trough shaped rail tracks with horizontal running surfaces on both sides. Each running surface has a vertical cross rail flange, which will determine the gauge. The vehicles are provided with transverse rollers which operate in conjunction with the cross rail flanges. There is a mechanical sensor (10) above each vehicle and a mechanical guide element (12) which forms part of a transverse guide warning system. The sensor will only react when the vehicle leaves a track. It will then come into contact with the guide element. The guide element is in the form of flashing plates equidistant from the two reference tracks (15) of the sensor.
