PURPOSE:To perform optical transmission with low loss without working the end faces to a mirror surface by interposing the tacky liquid which has the refractive index equal or approximate to the refractive index of optical fibers between the end face and end face of the optical fibers to be mutually connected. CONSTITUTION:The inside wall of a guide pipe 1 having an inside diameter nearly equal to the outside diameter of optical fibers 4, 4' is made mirror surface and the fibers 4, 4' are inserted into the guide pipe from its both ends. The tacky liquid 2 having the refractive index equal or approximate to the refractive index of the fibers 4, 4' is interposed between the end face and end face of the inserted fibers 4, 4', by which light may be transmitted with low loss without working the end faces of the fibers 4, 4' to a mirror surface. |
