Hunting gun breech mechanism - has square block with guide rib on sealing face and forming lug

The hunting gun breech mechanism has a cartridge chamber sealed by a block (2) at 88 deg. to the barrel axis, with a ground face inclined at 2 deg. The block is square 5/6ths of its sealing face having a 2-deg. chamber to bring it at right angles to the barrel and free the cartridge base immediately on opening. The remaining sixth guides the block and prevents canting when open. The block contains a firing pin (7) with return spring and rocking lever (6), also a recess on the left to take the opening pin (15). The sixth of the sealing face forming the guide rib also forms a lug acting against a step (1a) on the housing (1). The locking mechanism comprises a catch (5) and rear trigger (4), together with a fork piece (8) and spring cylinder (9), its housing (3) being tilted clear of the cylinder on opening.
