The method of reproducing an image in the form of a pattern of copper dots, suitable for jewellery etc., includes projecting a reduced image onto the light sensitive surface of a material covered with a metal foil. This is developed and fixed and then parts of the metal foil are selectively etched away. The material covered with the foil can be a plastics layer. The etching process is a single stage process. The image can be formed as a pattern of dots. The metal foil and the plastics layer are lacquered, and the metal may be coated with silver, gold or tin. The light sensitive layer can be a positive lacquer and the image may be positive or negative. Both sides can be processed to give a reproduction each side.
