A plasma display panel is provided to increase luminance by improving light room contrast, increasing the reflectance on a rear substrate, and minimizing a light absorbing rate in a barrier rib. A first and second substrates(10,20) are disposed opposite to each other. A barrier rib(16) is disposed between the first and second substrates in order to define discharge cells. An address electrode is extended in a first direction. A first dielectric layer is formed to cover the address electrode. A first and second electrodes are extended in a second direction and are formed on one of the first and second substrates. A second dielectric layer(40) is formed to cover the first and second electrodes. A protective layer is formed to cover the dielectric layer. The first substrate, the dielectric layer, and the second electrode are colored with respective colors. The barrier rib, the protective layer, and the dielectric layer are formed of transparent materials.
