<p>The silencer has a rectangular casing (1) with a circular inlet tube (2) at one end and a circular outlet tube (3) at the other one. Between the two ends the casing contains an insert, which is held off the sides of the casing by ribs (6), and leaves an annular space (5) between itself and the casing. The insert has an aerodynamic profile and tapers towards the outlet end. It has small inlet holes (10) at its middle, lrger holes (8, 9) towards its inlet side, and a single central opening (11) at the outlet side. The openings are rated to make the insert act as a resonant absorber.</p> |
