The safety, regulating valve for a pressure cooker is designed so that the inside of the valve housing (2) is protected against steam and food particles penetrating. A sealing ring (12) is positioned around the valve and is flexible and axially deformable. The inner edge of the sealing ring (12) is held against the valve tappet (9); the outer edge of teh ring (12) rests against a surface (13) of the valve housing (2). The support surface (13) of the valve housing (2) is situated between the inner space containing the compression spring (10) and the discharge duct (8).
