A telephone gravity - or hook-switch has a socket (1) into which contact spring sets can be plugged. The moving contact springs (2) are operated by the weight (P) of the handset via a lever (4) which has an auxiliary lever (5) pivoted on it to form a toggle mechanism. The end of the auxiliary lever has pegs (12) which pass through a hole in the end of each moving contact. When the handset is lifted, the contact spring force lifts the lever. When replacing the handset, the lever is pushed down, stopping before dead centre when the handset rests on the case. With the case removed for servicing, the lever can be pushed beyond dead centre to a stop (19).
|
