The power supply comprises a circuit-breaker device whose winding 20 controls a magnetic circuit 21 able to unlock the normally closed contacts 211 and 212, but normally stressed on opening. A thyristor 16 is mounted between the local earth terminal 5 of a user appliance and the earth line, by its gate-cathode circuit, in series with a resistor 14. A diode 12 is reverse-mounted between the gate and the cathode of the thyristor, whereas a non-linear element 19 of the metal oxide varistor type is placed between the terminal 5 and the earth line in order to avoid overloads at the terminals of the thyristor 16 and ensure correct operation of the latter.
