PURPOSE:To obtain a detecting composition which permits measuring a wide range concentration of ascorbic acid in an aqueous solution (especilly, a humore), by mixing a chelate complex of a polyhydric metal with a metallic indicator. CONSTITUTION:A chelate complex (a) of a polyhydric metal consisting of a polyhydric metal, such as iron and copper and a chelating agent (for example, ethylenediamine tetraacetate) is mixed with an indicator (b) of an organic metal (an organic reagent having N,N-coordination used for the colorimetric analysis of metal ions, for example, 0-phenanthroline and cuproine) to obtain an ascorbic acid detecting composition. When this composition is supported on an absorption carrier (filter paper or cloth), a test piece which permits an easy inspection operation can be obtained. |
