An infrared transmission device for maintaining a stable communication link and a controlling method therefor are provided to increase optical output in case of retry when a communication link is formed with a transmission antenna during data communication using infrared rays, thereby forming a stable communication link. An optical transmitter(210) converts an electric signal into an infrared optical signal to output the converted signal. The first controller(220) delivers data to be transmitted to the optical transmitter, and controls a current supplied to the optical transmitter. The second controller(230) is connected with the first controller, and controls the current together with the first controller by a predetermined control signal.
