On a machine frame is a trolley which can be driven in two horizontal coordinate directions (X, Y) at 9 degrees to each other and a laser is mounted on the trolley. On the underside of the trolley are two arms projecting vertically downwards and employed to provide bearings for a horizontal shaft, on which a hollow, cylindrical drum (5) is mounted. Slots are to be cut by the laser in the periphery of drum (5); and steel strips forming circular stamping knives will subsequently be inserted on the slots. On the shaft is a gearwheel which meshes with the teech on a stationary rack, so drum (5) is rotated when the trolley is driven in one direction along the frame. The dia of the gearwheel coincides with the pitch circle which will be formed by the cutting edges of the circular knives. Used in the mfr. of roller knives employed to cut profiles in cardboard used for folding or collapsible cardboard boxes. |
