PURPOSE:To prevent occurrence of blister defects on the surface of continuous-cast Al or Al alloy by treating it with an aqueous soln. contg. one or more kinds of compounds of Ti, V and other metals and carrying out heat treatment. CONSTITUTION:Al or Al alloy material is coated with an aqueous soln. contg. 0.2ppm-3% one or more kinds of compounds selected from inorg. compounds such as sulfates, chlorides, nitrates and oxides and org. compounds such as oxalates and acetates of Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Zr, Nb, Mo, Pd, Ag, Ta and W. The coated material is then subjected to homogenizing heat treatment in case of an ingot or to annealing or soln. heat treatment in case of a rolled or extruded material. During this heat treatment no blister occurs on the surface, and no void is formed in a surface layer, so a dense surface layer is obtd. easily. |
