MANUFACTURE OF DAMPING MATERIAL

摘要

PURPOSE:To obtain a damping material usable in high temp. environments and subjectable to working such as welding by exposing carbon steel or low alloy steel to hydrogen gas whose pressure and temp. are higher then those defined by the Nelson curve of said steel to induce hydrogen erosion. CONSTITUTION:Carbon steel or low alloy steel is exposed to hydrogen gas whose pressure and temp. are on its Nelson curve or over the curve to induce hydrogen erosion, whereby graphite and cementite in the structure are allowed to disappear, and fine cracks are produced on the grain boundaries and in the grains to give sound damping capacity. Composite steel obtd. by cladding carbon steel or low alloy steel with austenite stainless steel may be exposed to hydrogen gas whose pressure and temp. are higher than those defined by Nelson curve of the carbon steel or the low alloy steel to induce hydrogen erosion.
