PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a resume function of a content as a highly convenient function in copying and/or moving the content. SOLUTION: The resume function is controlled at the appropriate time without a user's complicated setting operation by providing: a recording and reproducing means to record a content including moving picture data and voice data on a recording medium and reproducing them; a holding means to hold resume information indicating a reproducing position of the content; an editing means to move the content to another recording medium or to copy it thereon; and a control means for controlling the editing means so as to move the resume information of the content held in the holding means in the case of moving the content and not to copy the resume information of the content held in the holding means in the case of copying the content.
