A sliding door especially for railway carriages and buses, in which a drive cylinder (5) or similar, via a set of double jointed arms (9, 9', 10) using an outgoing pressure force on the upper and lower parts of the door in a closed position. The given force caused by the motion is transferred to sideways motion of the door by means of a control device (14) fixed to the upper arm (10) that works on the door and is guided in a track (16) or similar used in the vicinity of the upper end of the door. The motion of the door's lower end is controlled by means of the same control device via a rod (13) which connects the upper and lower arms working on the door. Thus the desired sideways motion of the door is achieved close to the side wall of the vehicle without using a guide rail and the lower end of the door, of which the guide rail under winter conditions is subjected to the formation of ice.<IMAGE> |
