摘要 PURPOSE:To secure reading of the multiple function information by installing the optical polarizer into the optical path and thus detecting the intensity change of the reflected light as well as the deflecting degree of the reflected light plus the change of the deflecting direction each. CONSTITUTION:The laser beams radiated from the end face of semiconductor laser 1 are changed into the parallel beams through collimating lens 3, enter condenser lens 4 via 1/4 wavelength plate 7 made of the double refraction crystal plate, are condensed by lens 4, and then enter information recording carrier 8 onto which the recording is given so that the information may be turned into the polarization change of the incident light and the reflected light. The laser beams reflected by carrier 8 are applied to active layer 2 of laser 1 through lens 4, plate 7 and lens 3 each, and then the information of carrier 8 is read by photo detector 6. And the light returning to layer 2 is changed into the linear light featuring the same deflection as the radiated light and the deflection orthogonal to the radiated light according to the position of plate 7. Then the reading is possible through the magnetic spot memory or the like by making use of the selfconnection effect of the laser beams.
