<p>Lubricant compsns. for preceding a workpiece prior to deep drawing comprise 4 pts. lubricant (I) and 1 pt. silicone resin (II) in sufficient solvent to maintain in (I) and (II) in soln. with a suitable viscosity for application to the workpiece. Pref. compsns. comprise 3.2 vol. % (I), 0.8 vol. % (II) and 96 vol. % solvent, or 1.6 vol. % (I), 0.4 vol. % (II) and 98 vol. % solvent. (I) is pref. lanolin or peanut oil. The solvent is pref. a 50:50 mixt. of an aromatic hydrocarbon (esp. toluene) and an aliphatic hydrocarbon (esp. heptane). The compsns. are esp. useful for deep drawing of can bodies for use in the foodstuffs industry. They have good lubricating properties, do not have to be washed off, and do not impair the adhesion of subsequently applied epoxy resin coatings.</p> |
