<p>In the prodn. of heat exchangers, radiators, etc. having parts joined together by a soft Sn-Pb type solder, to parts to be soldered are coated, prior to the heating step which melts the alloy, with a layer of a flux contg. rosin. The rosin is pref. contained in a support, pref. tallow. The flux comprises a mixt. of 5-15(7.5-8)wt.% rosin, 1-20(7.5-8) wt.% oleic acid, 1-20(7.5-8)wt.% stearic acid and balance beef tallow. Activating additives are also present. Used partic. for soldering parts made of copper and/or iron for radiators. The process avoids washing and drying steps required in prior art and gives a high quality brazing. Atmospheric pollution caused by e.g. etching baths are also avoided.</p> |
