The documents processor uses a guide path for their supply from a magazine stack. It has an automatic stamp with a horizontally rotating inking drum driven by a servomotor in conjunction with position sensors for the document. The inking drum automatically aligns on the correct part of the document and applies the information to be stamped. The system is used for repetitive stamping or similar documents, such as bank codes onto cheques. The drum is set into rotation before the document has reached the stamping area. Thus the drum inertia does not affect the alignment nore the throughput. Two inking zones can be used for the drum to increase the versatility of the equipment.
