PURPOSE:To obtain a mixture of the title amines, useful as an antiozonant for rubber, in one step, by the reaction of a diarylamine, mesityl oxide and hydrogen. CONSTITUTION:A diarylamine selected from aminodiarylamine, nitrodiarylamine and nitrosodiarylamine is made to react with mesityl oxide and hydrogen to give N-alkylaminodiarylamines, esp. a mixture of N-(1,3-dimethylbutyl)aminodiphenylamine and N-isopropylaminodiphenylamine which is a ripid-and long-acting antiozonant for rubber. The use of mesityl oxide as the ketone enables the one-step preparation of the above mixture. |
