The awning (1) has an awning cloth (12) rolled up on a rotatably supported fabric shaft (11), where the cloth is removed by using an extension profile (13) of the shaft. An aeration and/or de-aeration unit is used for air conditioning an area below the awning, where the unit is arranged in one of a pair of awning housings (2, 10). A temperature sensor and/or a set of sensors are provided for detecting environment parameters such as brightness and wind. A control unit is provided for controlling and programming the air conditioning of the area.
