In a process for regenerating filter aids made of plastic granules which served for the filtration of highly viscous solutions, the filter cake is suspended in a slurry tank (5) mounted beneath the sludge discharge of a centrifugal purification filter (1), transported into a vibratory classifier (13), classified, purified, separated and recirculated to the centrifugal purification filter (1). The plant for carrying out the process forms a closed system with connections (8, 9) for chemicals and steam. <IMAGE>
