The fibre is spin-finished with a mixture of a) 0.5 - 40% by weight of a polymer of alkyloxyalkylsiloxanecarboxylic esters of units of the general formula <IMAGE> where R1 is alkyl of 1 - 3 carbon atoms, R2 is alkyl or aryl that is part of a mono- or dibasic acid, and n is at least 3, and b) 45 - 90% by weight of a carboxylic ester. The mixture may further contain emulsifiers or mixtures of emulsifiers and also smoothing, cohesifying, antistatic and corrosion-inhibiting substances. The mixture does not disappear into the fibre and it makes possible very high yarn speeds and the processing of the fibre material at high temperatures, in particular in drawing and crimping.
