The compounds of formula I in which the symbols have the meaning given in Claim 1 are prepared by reaction of a compound containing a benzene ring drawn on the left in Figure 1 and substituted by a radical -CN, -CHO or -C(O)R3 with the corresponding lithiated aryl compound. The compounds can be converted to acid addition salts. They are useful as medicaments, in particular as antiinflammatory agents. <IMAGE>
