Busbar assemblies of the type under consideration are typically used on low voltage power distribution systems. The purpose of the proposed modification is to seal the troughs containing the conductors against the accumulation of dirt. The trunking (12) is an insulation profile with a number of troughs, each arranged to hold a busbar (42, 44, 46) and isolate it form its neighbours. The tapping points (48, 50, 52) extend over the edge of the trunking. A hinged lid (56) is provided which closes over the assembly to keep out foreign matter and also prevent accidential contact. The lid (5)6 is preferably part of the trunking moulding and is permanently attached to it by an integral hinge (54). This may be a thinned down wall section. The free end preferably locks, by means of a beading strip (60), into a recess (62) in the outer wall (20) of the trunking opposite to the hinge wall (32).
