The sleeve with the record disc is inserted in a slot of the record player housing, in which is provided a guide and a movable delatching element. The latter can be deflected from a starting position in the inlet path of the sleeved record disc, where it acts as a wedge for the sleeve. A gripper is also movably provided in the housing and grips the record disc when the sleeve has been fully inserted. In this position it holds the record disc releasably, while the sleeve is retracted. After this the record disc remains on the housing guide. The gripping proper moves the gripper into its second position, in which it actuates a control device which deflects the delatching element from its starting position. In cooperation with a pawl it locates the record disc in required position. The sleeve removal also further deflects the delatching element, which actuates the control for removing the record disc from the housing.
