An adaptor for joining hard but deformable plastic pipes to other plastic or metal pipes comprises a tubular coupling threaded externally to receive collars with bevelled openings for clamping split conic sleeves. The coupling ends in a boss for aligning the end of the plastic tube with an annular recess in the end of the coupling. The split sleeve for clamping the plastic pipe is ribbed to grip the pipe and force the end of the pipe into the recess as the collar is tightened. This ensures a good radial and axial seal between the plastic pipe and the adaptor body.
