The magazine fed flash gun is for a compact camera and has a modular shape housing (1) with fixed flash reflector (2) and with belt feed for the separate flash bulbs. The flash fits into a recess (20) in the camera and the flash bulbs are indexed by a drive control (5) coupled to the camera winder. The magazine is self-contained and is disposed of when used. The bulbs are held sequentialy in front of the reflector and are fired electrically through contacts (4) on the outside of the case. The camera recess is closed by a slider linked to the reciprocating drive (14) which operates the film winder and the flash gun indexing drive. The flash drive is disengaged when the recess is opened.
