The slip is altered by varying the voltage applied to the coils of the induction motor, and the coils are alternately connected to two current supplies with identical frequencies. The winding unit has a preset frequency generator, and the reciprocating guide is connected to the frequency generator by one of the two current supplies. The supply circuits have different voltages through transformers located behind the frequency generator and there is a change-over switch to connect one or other of the two circuits. This change-over switch changes the induction motor from "star" to triangle" and back. The introduction of an induction motor allows a central unit to control the constant speed of the assembly, with individual control at each winding station to ensure that the spools are wound correctly, without wobble or other irregularities.
